Observations From the Window: We Repeat, Humans Are NOT OK

April Dispatch from the Feline Overlords: Humans Are Not Okay

If you’ve been paying attention (and let’s be honest, my cats always are), something is… off.

The humans are louder.
More reactive.
Deeply committed to being right—whether they are or not.

Mika has taken to sitting in the window, silently judging the neighborhood like a tiny, furry philosopher. Koji, on the other hand, has decided that chaos is the correct response and now knocks things off tables with even more conviction than usual.

Honestly? They might be onto something.

Because if April has proven anything, it’s that humans are exhausting themselves arguing, posturing, and doubling down—while somehow becoming less willing to actually listen.

The “I’m Right” Syndrome (A Human Epidemic)

Cats don’t argue facts.
They don’t hold press conferences.
They don’t rewrite reality mid-sentence.

If Mika misses a jump, she doesn’t insist the floor moved. She recalibrates… and then pretends it never happened.

Humans? Not so much.

There’s this fascinating phenomenon right now where people will:

  • cling to their version of reality like it’s a favorite blanket
  • ignore anything that challenges it
  • and then get louder when questioned

Koji tried this once. He insisted the closed treat jar was “basically open.”

It wasn’t.
He lost.

Lesson not learned.

Selective Hearing Is Apparently a Lifestyle Choice

Cats hear everything.
The crinkle of a bag.
A can opening three rooms away.
The faint whisper of “vet.”

Humans, meanwhile, have mastered the art of hearing only what they want to hear.

You can show them facts, context, nuance—and they’ll just… blink at you like you’ve spoken in interpretive dance.

Mika would never.

If there’s new information, she processes it immediately—usually by adjusting her strategy to get more snacks.

Efficient. Effective. Slightly manipulative. Respectable.

Chaos, Confusion, and the Confidence to Be Wrong

There’s also this strange confidence happening right now.

Not the good kind.
Not the “I’ve done my homework” kind.

More like:
“I skimmed something, misunderstood it, and now I’m going to defend it with my entire personality.”

Koji embodies this energy when he attacks invisible enemies at 3 a.m.

Is there anything there? No.
Will he commit fully anyway? Absolutely.

At least he’s honest about being ridiculous.

Meanwhile, the World Keeps Spinning

Big things are happening. Serious things. The kind of things that should make people pause, think, and maybe—just maybe—approach conversations with a little humility.

And yet…

We’ve got storytelling where there should be clarity.
Deflection where there should be accountability.
Noise where there should be substance.

Mika’s take? Sit back, observe, conserve energy.

Koji’s take? Scream into the void and then take a nap.

Both are arguably healthier than doom-scrolling.

So What Would Cats Do?

Let’s be real—cats are not perfect (don’t tell them I said that).

But they do have a few things figured out:

  • They don’t waste energy arguing with walls
  • They don’t pretend nonsense makes sense
  • They adjust when reality doesn’t match expectations
  • And when things get overwhelming… they disengage

There’s something to that.

Final Thoughts from the Editor (That’s Me… Under Feline Supervision)

This month feels like a lot.
For everyone.

But if Mika and Koji have taught me anything, it’s this:

You don’t have to match chaos with chaos.
You don’t have to argue with every loud voice.
And you definitely don’t have to pretend nonsense is reasonable.

Sometimes the smartest move is to:
observe carefully,
act intentionally,
and protect your peace like a cat guards its favorite sunny spot.

Ciao,

Humans In Charge? You’ve Got To Be Kitten Me!

Well, here we are fellow feline observers, watching the humans fumble their way through yet another week of global chaos. War, political madness, endless bickering – you’d think they’d have learned by now, but nope, they’re still bumbling around like a bunch of confused kittens chasing their own tails. Grab your catnip and settle in as we take a whisker-twitching look at the two-legged lunatics who somehow got put in charge of this mess.

Spoiler Alert: It’s not pretty.

So here we are again. Another week, another dazzling display of human “leadership”—and by leadership, we mean a chaotic mashup of finger-pointing, ego contests, and decisions that would get any self-respecting housecat banned from the living room.

From our vantage point (usually perched on the back of the couch, silently judging), it’s becoming increasingly clear: the species that invented both nuclear weapons and reality TV may not be firing on all cylinders.

Let’s start with the basics. Cats operate on a simple, elegant system:

  • Eat when hungry
  • Sleep when tired
  • Attack only when necessary (or when a dangling string presents itself)
  • Maintain dignity at all costs

Humans? Oh no. Humans have decided that sleep is optional, outrage is mandatory, and the best way to solve problems is to shout louder than the other guy while simultaneously doing absolutely nothing productive.

Impressive. Truly.

Meanwhile, entire nations are posturing like two unneutered tomcats circling each other in an alley—tails puffed, backs arched, making a lot of noise and accomplishing exactly zero. Except, of course, for raising everyone’s blood pressure and making the rest of the world wish someone would just turn on the vacuum cleaner and clear the room.

And don’t even get us started on the economic situation. Humans have created a system so complex that even they don’t understand it anymore. The DOW goes up, the DOW goes down, everyone panics, and somehow the price of kitty treats keeps rising – as well as the gas our human needs for the automobile needed to fetch said treats. Explain that, Karen from accounting.

From a cat’s perspective, the solution is painfully obvious:
If the food bowl is empty, you fix the problem, i.e. FILL THE FREAKING FOOD BOWL SO IT’S NO LONGER EMPTY. You don’t hold a six-month debate about the philosophical implications of kibble distribution.

Then there’s the endless arguing. Oh, the arguing. Humans will spend hours—hours—yelling at each other over things that have absolutely no impact on whether they’ll survive the day. Meanwhile, actual problems sit unattended like a full litter box nobody wants to deal with.

Here’s a wild idea: maybe, just maybe, less talking and more doing?

But no. That would require cooperation. And if there’s one thing humans seem allergic to right now, it’s cooperation. Everyone’s too busy being right to actually be useful.

Cats, on the other hand, have mastered the art of selective cooperation:

  • We’ll sit near each other
  • We’ll tolerate your existence
  • We will absolutely not attend your committee meetings

Efficiency.

And let’s talk about priorities. Humans will doom scroll for hours, absorb every ounce of global chaos, and then wonder why they feel like a crumpled paper bag. Meanwhile, cats have perfected the ability to simply… walk away.

Bad vibes? Leave the room.
Too much noise? Find a sunbeam.
World on fire? Take a nap anyway.

Honestly, it’s not avoidance—it’s strategy.

Because here’s the uncomfortable truth: the world is messy right now. The U.S., the global stage, all of it—it’s loud, divided, and a little bit unhinged. But flailing around like a cat chasing a laser pointer on espresso isn’t helping.

What would help?

A little less ego.
A little more focus.
And maybe—just maybe—a nap before making major decisions.

If cats were running things, would everything be perfect? Of course not. There would be significantly more napping and an alarming shortage of houseplants.

But you know what there wouldn’t be?

Endless, pointless chaos driven by creatures who are supposedly at the top of the food chain and should absolutely know better.

So as you move through your week, take a moment. Channel your inner cat:

  • Observe more than you react
  • Conserve your energy for what actually matters
  • And for the love of all things whiskered, stop engaging in arguments that lead nowhere

Because from where we’re sitting—tails wrapped neatly, eyes half-lidded—the humans don’t look powerful.

They look… confused.

And frankly? It’s a little embarrassing.

Now if you’ll excuse us, there’s a sunbeam with our name on it—and unlike human leadership, it’s warm, reliable, and exactly where it’s supposed to be.

The Red Dot Phenomenon – Ground Hog Day For Cats

If you’ve ever picked up a laser pointer and watched your cat transform from a sleepy loaf into a full-blown apex predator, you already know: the red dot is not just a toy. It’s a phenomenon.

One second your cat is judging you from across the room. The next? Pupils dilated, body low, tail twitching like a coiled spring—locked in on that tiny, elusive speck of light as if their entire existence depends on catching it.

So what’s really going on here? Why does this simple red dot send cats into full chaos mode?

Let’s find out. Continue reading The Red Dot Phenomenon – Ground Hog Day For Cats

Before You Panic: We’d Like To Explain the Etsy Thing

Meoowww,

We run this place.

You may think this is Annie’s (our Human) shop.
It is not. We simply allow her to use opposable thumbs for production purposes.

We have reviewed this website. It is acceptable.
The products are cute. The stitching is neat. Our human has been properly trained.

However,

You will notice that when you go to purchase, you are sent to Etsy.

This is not a mistake. This is not suspicious. This is NOT the human “doing something weird.”

This is intentional.

You Are Hovering. We Can Tell.

You are scrolling.
You are pausing.
You are thinking:

“Why am I being sent somewhere else?”
“Is this safe?”
“Do I trust this Web site?”

First of all—your instincts are not terrible. We respect a cautious creature.

But relax. We have already vetted this situation.

Etsy Has Been Approved by Us (Mika and Koji)

Here is why we do things this way:

  • Buyer protection
If something goes wrong (it won’t, but still), Etsy has your back. We like that.
  • Real reviews from real humans
Many people have purchased. Many people are happy. No one has perished.
  • Secure checkout
Your payment is handled by professionals.
Not by our human, who—while talented—also once glued her fingers together.

You HAVE to check out our latest little ditties: The Kitty Pouch

[table id=8 /]

In short:
You are safer there. We prefer safe. Safe means fewer problems. Fewer problems means more time for us. And as our human knows (or has grudgingly accepted), we are the most important creatures in the house. We have our needs, wants, and desires. They must be met. It’s non-negotiable.

About the Goods (Yes, We Inspect Them On A Regular Basis)

These items are hand designed, hand sewn, and the designs are definitely a product of our humans chaotic brain. A lot of work goes into producing everything in our shop. Also a lot of love and “particularness”. We do not mass produce. Hence the “boutiqueness” vibe.

We have personally:

  • Sat on the fabric
  • Supervised the cutting
  • Sat at a safe distance while our MaMa is heat pressing
  • Supervised the computer and design work
  • Inspected the final product by staring at it intensely

Some items may contain a trace amount of cat hair.

This is not a flaw.
This is a blessing.

What Happens Next (Pay Attention)

  1. You click on a product on our Shop
  2. A page describing the product displays.
  3. Once you click on the “Purchase Now” button, you are redirected to our Etsy shop, where you can choose options and/or securely check out (like a responsible adult).

That’s it. Simple and safe as lazing about in your favorite sunny window.

No tricks. No nonsense. No “funny business,” as the humans say.

Final Instructions

  • Click the Etsy link
  • Choose your item
  • Complete your purchase

Make a good decision for once.

We will be watching.
