News, Notes & Nonsense from Mika, Koji and Their Human!
The world continues to provide an endless supply of headlines, confusion, and opportunities to wonder what exactly is going on. Fortunately, Mika and Koji remain committed to focusing on what truly matters: naps, treats, cardboard boxes, and keeping a watchful eye on headquarters. So settle in for another edition of The Scratching Post Press, where the news is cat-approved and the opinions are occasionally fur-covered.

From the Editor's Desk
Greetings from headquarters, where productivity remains under constant feline supervision. As I write this month's newsletter, Mika is occupying a chair she has no intention of paying rent for, and Koji is conducting a thorough security inspection of every cardboard box that enters the premises.
Neither cat appears remotely concerned about inflation, politics, social media algorithms, shipping costs, or the latest round of "helpful" changes made by online marketplaces. Honestly, they may be onto something.
While the humans of the world continue running around with their hair on fire, the feline staff remains committed to the important things:
• Breakfast • Second breakfast • Monitoring birds • Random zoomies • Strategic naps • Preventing me from working uninterrupted
It's a simple life, and frankly, it looks pretty appealing.
Life at Scratching Post HQ
This month has been another reminder that running a small creative business isn't for the faint of heart.
Behind every finished product is a surprising amount of work:
- Designing
- Testing
- Photographing
- Listing
- Marketing
- Packaging
- Shipping
- Customer service
- More photographing because the first photographs weren't quite right
And somehow, despite all that effort, the cats remain convinced that they are the ones doing the heavy lifting.
Koji's contribution largely involves inspecting supplies.
Mika's contribution consists of judging management decisions from a comfortable distance.
Both consider themselves essential personnel.

The Mika & Koji Report
Mika's Official Statement
Mika would like everyone to know that she continues to be the most beautiful employee on staff.
She has also requested that all future newsletters contain additional photographs of her.
Her hobbies currently include:
• Supervising from elevated locations • Looking fabulous • Demanding attention on her schedule • Pretending she wasn't the one making noise five minutes ago
Koji's Official Statement
Koji remains our resident introvert and Chief Box Inspector.
While still somewhat cautious about unexpected visitors and suspicious household events, he has become increasingly confident around headquarters.
• Security patrols • Bird observation • Strategic stealth operations • Evaluating every new box for structural integrity
He has filed no complaints this month, which is generally a positive sign.
One thing I've been reminded of lately is that creativity isn't about waiting for perfect circumstances.
If we waited for the world to calm down, the bills to disappear, the news cycle to improve, and life to become completely stress-free, we'd never create anything.
Sometimes creativity happens in the middle of chaos.
Sometimes it happens while a cat is sitting on your keyboard.
Sometimes it happens because a cat is sitting on your keyboard and you need an excuse to avoid the news.
Whatever gets the job done.
Until Next Month...
Thank you for supporting independent artists, small businesses, and the occasionally chaotic operation known as The Scratching Post Press.
Every order, share, comment, and kind word helps keep this little adventure moving forward.
And remember that no matter how crazy the world becomes, there's probably a cat somewhere taking a nap and demonstrating the correct response to most situations.

The Cats Have Declared a News Blackout
From the Editor's Desk This morning I made the mistake of checking the news before coffee. Rookie error. Before I had even finished my first sip, I had learned about political drama, economic drama, international drama, weather drama, and at least three separate reasons why humanity apparently cannot be trusted with nice things. Meanwhile, Mika was stretched across the back …

My Cats Have No Idea the World Is on Fire
And apparently they don't really care. Every morning I wake up, check the news for approximately twelve seconds, and immediately regret having eyeballs. Something somewhere is exploding. The economy is doing interpretive dance again. Everyone online is yelling. My grocery bill now qualifies as a luxury experience. And through all of this? My cats remain deeply committed to their personal …
