What Cats Really Think About Thanksgiving: A Holiday Survival Guide (For Cats and Humans)

Ah, Thanksgiving. A glorious day of overeating, questionable side dishes, and relatives who think they’re hilarious.
But have you ever wondered what your cat thinks about all this? Spoiler: it’s not gratitude. Continue reading What Cats Really Think About Thanksgiving: A Holiday Survival Guide (For Cats and Humans)

The Countdown – What Your Cat Is Really Thinking While You Panic Over Pie

Two Weeks ‘Til Turkey: Your Cat’s Official Pre-Thanksgiving Survival Guide 🦃

🐾 The Countdown Begins: 14 Days to Gravy

Two weeks before Thanksgiving, your human brain goes into overdrive — grocery lists, side-dish debates, the annual “do we have enough folding chairs?” crisis.

Your cat, meanwhile, has entered Observation Mode: Elite Edition. They’re watching the turkey thaw with laser precision, sniffing out the scent of chaos, and questioning why you suddenly think cleaning the baseboards matters now.

Cat: “You missed a spot. Also, I’m claiming that foil roasting pan as my new reflective throne.”

🍗 Day 10: Guest Panic Rising

Humans call it “entertaining.” Cats call it “the invasion.” You’re texting family, fluffing throw pillows, lighting candles — and your cat’s quietly evaluating escape routes.

  • Every chair you move? That’s a nap zone lost.
  • Every new guest towel? A soft target for fur redeployment.

Cat: “They call them ‘guests.’ I call them ‘temporary trespassers with loud voices.’” — Sir Whiskerly, Maine Coon

☀️ Day 7: The Great Nap Disruption

A week out, the oven becomes the sun’s fiery cousin. Great for basking, terrible for routine. Between rearranged furniture and your “stress cleaning,” your cat’s patience is thin.

  • Tail flicking while you mop.
  • Strategic placement in doorways you need to walk through.
  • Staring directly into your soul mid-vacuum.

Day 4: The Smell Offensive

By now, the house smells like ambition. Butter. Onions. Desperation. You’re taste-testing pies; your cat’s taste-testing patience. They know it’s almost time — the one glorious day when meat actually falls from the sky (a.k.a. the kitchen counter).

Cat: “You think you’re cooking for the family? No, no. You’re cooking for me. You just don’t know it yet.” — Miss Pumpernickel, Tortoiseshell

Day 2: The Furniture Betrayal

The couch moves. The rug shifts. The scratching post mysteriously vanishes to make “more room for people.” You’re rearranging for “flow.” Your cat calls it The Great Betrayal.

Don’t worry — they’re already plotting to reclaim everything with a single midnight fur explosion.

Day 1: The Calm Before the Feast

The eve of Thanksgiving. Your cat knows the rhythm — you’re tired, flour-streaked, and talking to the turkey like it’s a confidant. They choose their position wisely: one part strategic, one part judgmental.

Cat: “Humans think they’re hosting dinner. We’re hosting a performance. And spoiler — we’re the stars.” — Princess Tuna

  Gratitude, Cat-Style 🐈‍⬛

  • Warm laundry piles.
  • Rogue turkey bits.
  • Sun patches untouched by guests.
  • Humans who respect the silent flick of the tail.

When the guests leave and the kitchen smells like victory and gravy, your cat finally thrives — sprawling on the couch, watching you clean up, smug in their fur-covered superiority.

From Spooky to Snuggly: It’s Maximum Cuddles Month

Halloween is over, the candy bowl is empty (except for those sad off-brand caramels), and your cat has officially retired their “Midnight Menace” costume. November has arrived—and according to your feline overlord, that means one thing: it’s time to turn the snark down a notch and the snuggles way up.

Honestly? Your cat isn’t doing it out of affection. Oh no. November is prime heat hoarding season. The temperature drops, the blankets come out, and suddenly your cat—who ignored you all summer—has decided that your lap is the only acceptable heating pad in the house. You’re honored, of course. But make no mistake: you’re being used.

Reason #1: Your Space Heater Is Now “Our” Space Heater

Cats are masters of resource acquisition, and by “resources,” we mean your warmth. If you’re cold, your cat sees that as a personal challenge. Don’t be surprised if they commandeer your favorite blanket, claim your fuzzy socks as a bed, and stare at you judgmentally while you shiver.

Reason #2: Seasonal Supervision Is a Full-Time Job

November means you’ll be nesting—decorating for fall, baking, maybe even organizing. (Cute. You think that’s your choice.) Your cat has decided to “supervise” these activities, which is code for “knocking things over while maintaining eye contact.” If you light a candle, prepare for a fluffy fire marshal inspection.

Reason #3: Cozy Season = Photo Season

You’re taking photos of your PSL, your sweater, your new mug… so naturally, your cat assumes they’re the star of the fall photo shoot. Which, let’s face it, they are. Bonus points if your cat’s glare says, “You may post this, human, but only if it gets likes.”

Reason #4: Gratitude? Don’t Count On It

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and while you’re giving thanks for your cat, they’re probably giving thanks for the turkey scraps they plan to steal. November is their month to act sweet, steal your leftovers, and then nap for 14 hours like it was hard work.

So as the weather turns chilly and the nights get longer, embrace it. Pour yourself a mug of something warm, pull that blanket tight, and let your cat settle in for their seasonal cuddle marathon. You might even trick yourself into thinking they love you—until they bite your hand for moving.

Because at Snarky Cat Boutique, we know one thing for sure: every cozy season is better with a little attitude and a whole lot of cat hair.

How Cats Really Feel About Halloween (Hint: They Hate You)

Ah, Halloween. That magical time of year when humans lose all sense of dignity and start draping themselves in plastic capes, glitter, and things with the texture of a cheap wig found in a party store clearance bin. Continue reading How Cats Really Feel About Halloween (Hint: They Hate You)

Why Your Cat Stares At You Like You Owe Them Money

Ever feel like your cat’s silently judging you from across the room? Spoiler alert: they are. Whether they’re evaluating your life choices, plotting a 3 a.m. chaos mission, or just zoning out like a tiny furry Buddha, that blank stare has layers. Let’s break down the mystery (and the mild emotional damage) behind your cat’s long-distance judgment sessions.

So your cat is sitting halfway across the room, eyes locked on you like you’re a suspicious character in their true-crime documentary. You’re not imagining it — they are totally doing  it on purpose. Cats are masters of silent judgment, and that distant stare? It’s not random. It’s part of their weird, inscrutable job description.

Let’s break down the possible reasons your feline roommate acts like they’re running surveillance on you.

They’re Conducting a Performance Review

Cats see themselves as management. You, dear human, are the employee. When they sit and stare, they’re silently asking:

  1. “Have you earned the privilege of my affection today?”
  2. “Did you refill my food bowl – on time?”
  3. Did you pet them exactly three times and then stop like they prefer?
  4. Did you remember their favorite window spot?

That stare is their way of taking notes for your next review — and spoiler alert: you’re probably getting a

  • Needs Improvement (shows some competency but requires development)”

or worse –

  • Poor (fails to meet expectations)”

They Want Something — But Will Never Admit It

Unlike dogs, who will literally throw a parade to let you know they’re hungry, cats prefer psychological warfare.
They’ll sit across the room, unblinking, until you start questioning your sanity.

You: “Do you want food? Playtime? A cuddle?”
Cat: blinks once
You: “…right. I’ll just open every door in the house and see what happens.”

Congratulations, you’ve been successfully manipulated by a loaf of fur.

They’re Spying on You — Because You’re Weird

Cats are curious. (Famously.) But they’re also nosy little creeps. They want to know why you’re laughing at your phone, why you keep opening the fridge and staring inside like it’s the portal to happiness, and what the heck you’re doing on MS Teams all day.

They don’t understand your behavior, but they will document it — mentally, of course, for future blackmail.

They’re Zoning Out — Cat Edition

Sometimes your cat isn’t judging you at all — they’re just buffering. Cats have this serene “stare into nothingness” mode where their brain goes on screensaver. But if you make eye contact during that moment?
Boom — instant awkwardness.
You’ve turned their existential nap into a staring contest. Nice going, human.

They Just Enjoy Watching You Squirm

Let’s be honest: cats love control. That long, unsettling stare? It’s a power move. They know you’ll eventually start nervously asking, “What? What do you want?” while they remain perfectly still, looking smug.

It’s the feline equivalent of watching you trip on your own emotional shoelaces. They live for it.

😼 And so, to conclude this inciteful writing on freaky, flaky cat bahavior;

Your cat’s distant, soul-piercing stare is part judgment, part curiosity, and part pure chaos. You’ll never fully understand it — and that’s exactly how they like it.

So the next time your cat sits across the room, tail wrapped neatly, eyes locked on you like they’re plotting your demise… just smile and wave. Or really freak them out by just staring back (it’s what I do with mine). You’re doing great in their weird little show. Probably. Maybe…
